my honor to meet the ISSAYA’S director – MR. ADIT VANSOH , he showed us the best of ISSAYA :-)
ISSAYA SIAMESE CLUB was voted as ASIA’S 50 best restaurants 3 years in a row from 2014, 2015 & 2016. i can’t afford to miss the opportunity to experience the internationally renown CHEF IAN’S works while i was in bangkok last week. lucky me, i was able to get a table during the easter holiday ….. perhaps, because i booked a months in advance :-).
the whole 100-year-old thai villa with tropical garden is situated in central. ( sounds fantastic to me, you know traffic in bangkok can be a pain in the ass). fully styled in a relaxed atmosphere of dining & lounge with a garden party vibe. the garden are great for a cocktail, one of their signature drinks MOJITO is terribly good!!!

the garden at ISSAYA SIAMESE CLUB flourishes because of the rainy season, thus the name ISSAYA (which is an old Thai word for the rainy season) was chosen to pay homage to this beautiful part of nature. ISSAYA is the ground floor dining outlet that includes both a dining room and large outdoor terrace. the menu features CHEF KITTICHAI‘S unique signature thai cuisine of traditional ingredients and flavors with international and progressive cooking methods. some of CHEF’S signature dishes, such as mussuman curry lamb shank (mussuman gae) and jasmine flower Flan (kanom dok mali), as well as an ever-changing market menu that highlights seasonal specials, direct from the market, are the heart of the menu. ISSAYA also features CHEF’S garden where guests can see aromatic thai herbs grown year-round. CHEF KITTICHAI is a pioneer in farm-to-table dining in thailand and incorporates his purity and freshness beliefs into ISSAYA. ISSAYA also features a large private dining room and lounge area that can be reserved for large parties.

KOR MOO YANG – it was made at my table :-) grilled pork shoulder, sawtooth coriander & chili in a toasted jasmine rice dressing

KAEW WARN “LIKE A SOUP” GOONG – homemade green curry paste soup with prawn, basil, kaffir lime leaves & heart of palm.

WOK SAUTEED SHORT GRAIN RICE WITH “HED POR” – asian multi-grains, chiang mai mushrooms & garlic sprinkled with mushrooms-scented oil ……… honestly, i have no idea how he can make it so NON greasy but still so yummy !!!

MUSSAMUM GAE – lamb shank simmered in mussamum curry served with pickled cucumber ……… i’m not a fan of lamb but this one …… the meat is so tender that i can’t resist at all !!!

CHOO-CHEE SALMON ROM KWAN – slow-cooked smoked salmon with jerusalem artichokes from chokchai farm in a homemade red curry sauce ……. it melts in your mouth
i didn’t try the tasting menu thou. but instead MR. ADIT ( director of ISSAYA ) was too kind to pick whatever it’s good for us ………. obviously i was in good hands :-). all the dishes were surpassed my expectation and presented extremely well. it was a truly magical & memorable dining experience that i have ever had. tks ISSAYA, i’ll be back for more :-)
ALERT ………. remember to leave room for their incredible/innovative dessert, totally worth it ………. :-)

KANOM TUNG TAEK (broken bucket) – cold coconut crepe souffle for 2 with a variety of thai condiments

KANOM THAI – issaya sweet nothings: assorted house-made petit fours ……. the smoked macaron is divine, crazily delicious that even better than those i had eaten in paris !!!
