a story NICK KNIGHT worked on with AMANDA HARLECH. the original idea of the ‘poke’ bonnet was to stop the wearer from being ‘distracted’ by the world around them and conversely to focus the viewers gaze solely on the wearers face , framed by flowers , ribbons , feathers and so on. this now odd sounding victorian idea of chastity, and dignity was set as a brief to a brilliant set of designers including RICARDO TISCI, IRIS VAN HERPEN & SARAH BURTON at McQueen. to see their versions of the bonnet check out the next issue of V magazine and the extended piece on SHOWstudio, including a fantastic interview with ORIOLE CULLEN curator of modern textiles and fashion from the victoria and albert museum explaining the history of the bonnet. here EMMA LAIRD wears bonnet by STEPHEN JONES for THOM BROWNE & vintage DIOR coat from william vintage , london. …………. so can’t to see all the other images ………..
